The Estates of Waukee held a ceremony to commemorate the groundbreaking of its newest Vintage Cooperative Community on Tuesday, July 26th.
This maintenance-free community for active 55+ will be the first of its kind in the Des Moines area. The 29 individual patio homes will be situated in the heart of Kettlestone Development and will feature 4 different floor plans. Sales have already started and the sooner members purchase, the sooner they get to select their home location and personalize! Once inside this community, members can enjoy clubhouse amenities that include an outdoor swimming pool, great room with fireplace and kitchen, fitness center, office space, and indoor pickleball court.
Cooperatives were designed as a form of homeownership in which the members collectively own and control the developments in which they live. Residents buy membership stock in the cooperatives, which owns the land, buildings, and any common areas, such as the clubhouse. What sets Vintage Cooperatives apart is the emphasis on building a strong spirit of community, the ability to put personalization on the homes, and that members own and run the community, giving them a say in the decisions.
The general contractor for this project is Conlon Construction out of Dubuque, IA. The projected timeline for completion of the entire project is late 2023.
